The Paarl Royals have been one of the surprise packages of the tournament so far with an excellent start to the campaign after falling at the semi-final stage in the first two editions of this competition. The Duran Super Giants on the other hand have been a disappointment, winning just one of their three completed matches at the time of writing.

Joe Root
Many feel Root isn’t a T20 player in the first place, but the former England Test captain is proving everyone wrong with scores of 62 not out and 92 not out already this season. He may lack the power of some, but he has all the ability, timing and class to get good scores in this format, too.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
The Afghan spinner remains an integral part of this side with his incredible variations making him extremely hard to read. Another big advantage of having him in the side is that he doesn’t mind bowling the tough overs in the Powerplay overs, often picking up vital wickets.
Bjorn Fortuin
Another priceless spinner who is economical takes wickets and also doesn’t mind bowling in the first six overs. We haven’t seen much from him with the bat yet, but he’s certainly capable, and could yet make an impact in that regard.

- Naveen-ul-Haq (Afghanistan)

- Matthew Breetzke
Noor Ahmad
Another Aghan spinner who is making a big splash in this competition. The fact that he’s a left-arm bowler makes it even harder to play him and he’s found some of these slightly tacky surfaces very much to his liking so far.
Heinrich Klassen
Klassen is yet to get going in this tournament for a man with his reputation and the Super Giants should think long and hard about batting him higher up the order at 4, rather than 5 or 6, to give him some more time at the crease.
Keshav Maharaj
The skipper has been bowling pretty well so far and as ever, looks to target the stumps with most deliveries on pitches he knows well. Where he may need to improve a bit is with his captaincy, with Klassen’s batting position a good example of that.
Remember to check out Maharaj’s Super Giants top bowler odds at the best betting sites for cricket each time he plays.
Top Batsman for both teams
Joe Root to be Paarl Royals Top Batsman
Root’s T20 batting style is quite unusual for this format as he often relies on placement and traditional cricket shots rather than brute power, but he’s been highly effective so far and up for the challenge, so could go well again here.
Kane Williamson to be Durban Super Giants Top Batsman
Williamson is somewhat cut from the same cloth as Root as he often seems to be playing at ODI pace rather than T20 speed, but he’s another who’s a great accumulator of runs, so he’ll give you a good run for your money.
Predicted Line-Ups
Paarl Royals Predicted Line-up: Root, dre Pretorius, Hermann, Van Buuren, Miller, Karthik, Wellalage, Galiem, Mujeeb, Fortuin, Maphaka.
Durban Super Giants Predicted Line-Up: King, Breetzke, de Kock, Mulder, Smith, Klassen, Woakes, Maharaj, Subrayen, Noor Ahmad, Ul Haq.
Suggested Bets
Time to move onto some cricket betting insights as to who can stand out in this match with either bat or ball. Remember that one of the most important cricket betting strategies is to always shop around for better odds, so it’s always a good suggestion to have accounts at several best betting sites for cricket, so you can always get the highest possible price.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman to be Paarl Royals Top Bowler: Mujeeb is Paarl’s top wicket-taker at the time of writing and is a real class act who constantly targets the stumps, looking for LBW and bowled with just about every delivery. He’s also bowled more overs than anyone else in the side so should have every chance.
Noor Ahmad to be Super Giants Top Bowler: The other Afghan spinner on show is just as potent and also leads the way for wickets for his side. He’ll probably go off as favourite but that’s for a reason, and that reason is that he’s a prolific wicket-taker.
Value Bet
When playing at the best cricket betting sportsbooks, there are lots of side markets beyond just matchwinner and top batsman. Here’s one to consider.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius to score a 50: It’s amazing to think that he’s still only 18 but Pretorius has been one of the stand-out players of the tournament with sky-high strike rates as a result of some big blows. He managed two fifties from his first five matches – 83 and 97 – and may be good for another one here.
Paarl Royals vs Durban Super Giants: Paarl Royals to Win
The Super Giants have the upper hand in this contest with three wins out of the four where they’ve faced each other but the Royals have looked an excellent outfit this season with all bases covered. What could make all the difference here is their home advantage, where they know exactly what to do with the bat and what areas to bowl at with the ball. They also know that sometimes 150 here is a very competitive score batting first, so all that local knowledge will help their cause.
