Ospreys Current Form – WDWWW
From an Ospreys perspective, there might not be too much to celebrate this season. However, their set-pieces have been a source of much encouragement improvement. They are amongst the teams with the greatest number of lineouts won this domestic season as well as one of the teams dominating at scrum time.
They will know they face a truly competitive Leicester side, irrespective of whether their visitors field all of their internationals or not. Ospreys will have to rely on almost perfect set-pieces to keep them in the game, because we can’t see how they hurt Leinster in open play.
Key Players to Watch
- Justin Tipuric: Outside of his ability to scrum and continue to contribute to open play, Tipuric has been a player they rely on during the line-out. With more than 40 clean line-out catches made during the domestic season, one should not underestimate the value found there!
- Morgan Morris: What a versatile rugby player Morris has been for the hosts this season. Making positive yardage almost every time he has the ball in hand, Morris will be a player looking for the physical battle upfront and Leinster might need to match this beastly challenge to keep him quiet.
- Owen Williams: Playing at number 10 for Ospreys, Williams has been largely responsible for keeping the pace of the game up while his side launch attacking patterns of play. A player known for wanting to play at a rapturous pace, Williams will no doubt be wanting to ensure their visitors have very little time to set their defensive approach come Friday night.
Ospreys Team News
Gareth Thomas, Jac Morgan and Dan Edwards are all likely to miss this encounter due to their call-up to the Welsh national side.
Leinster Current Form – WWWWW
Leinster are truly in a league of their own. They currently lead the URC table at a canter and even without their internationals, they are able to field an incredibly strong rugby team.
After ten matches played, the visitors are ahead by a massive, most likely insurmountable, 11 points! The rugby they play is very much akin to that of the Irish national side. They play expansive rugby, attacking at pace with width and brash physicality. Their forwards allow for their backs to launch attacks of incredible platforms and in so doing make it very difficult to penetrate their defensive system.
Key Players to Watch
- Jordie Barrett: Whether or not he starts on Friday is irrelevant! We finally have a chance to talk about Jordie Barrett at Leinster in the URC. He is arguably amongst some of the greatest attacking players to grace a rugby field, and the fact that one of the world’s club superpowers has secured his signature is, well, a little childish! This is a massive signing – even if it’s a few months in already!
- RG Snyman: A physical forward who embodies everything South African rugby stands for. Dynamic with his hands and able to contribute to the team’s defensive and attacking needs. He is one to watch here, simply because he could be a player who turns the game around for his team.
- Aitzol Arenzana-King: A player with incredible ability, pace and aggressiveness. He plays on the wing for Leinster and will no doubt be looking to get his name under some of the spotlight on Friday night!
Leinster Team News
Ryan Baird, Jack Boyle, Thomas Clarkson, Jack Conan, Caelan Doris, Tadhg Furlong, Cain Healy, Ronan Kelleher, Gus McCarthy, Joe McCarthy, Andrew Porter, James Ryan, Dan Sheehan and Josh van der Flier have all been named in the Irish Six Nations squad and as such are unavailable for this clash.
Suggested Bets

Leinster: The reality is that no matter who is named in this Leinster team to play on Friday night, the quality is going to be far superior to that of Ospreys – no offence Ospreys fans! Back the visitors as a banker. 2/10 (1.2) with BetWinner
Leinster (-13.5): For more value, back the visitors to overcome the 13.5 handicap at generous odds. 8/10 (1.8) with Stake
Halftime/Fulltime Double: Leinster/Leinster: Back the domination to start and end with the visitors leading at the break and after the final whistle. 17/50 (1.34) with Betway

Leinster by 15+: Back the Irish juggernaut to win by 15 clear points, irrespective of the total! 8/10 (1.8) with Betway
Leinster -4.5 (1st Half): Back Leinster to overcome a first half handicap of five points. 3/10 (1.3) with 1xBet
Leinster – 19.5: At massive odds, back the visitors to exact absolute domination on their Welsh hosts, overcoming a massive 20-point deficit over the 80 minutes of rugby played. 11/5 (3.2) with Pinnacle
Prediction: Leinster
As if there could be any other prediction given to you in good faith!? One can only hope our dear friends provide us with even further rugby betting promos for free ahead of this encounter.
The hosts have named some really strong lineups during the course of the URC tournament, most notably when they faced the DHL Stormers. Unfortunately, even in that encounter they stuttered and stammered for most of the encounter. In Leinster, they face an unforgiving opponent, one who is capable of ensuring they pay for every mistake made during the 80 minutes!
