Cape Town City seemed destined for a bright future under the tutelage of veteran manager Muhsin Ertugral, claiming impressive victories over his former employers Kaizer Chiefs (1-0) and Orlando Pirates (1-0) in his first two matches at the helm after taking over the reins from Eric Tinkler.
However, after being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup (round of 32) by Sekhukhune United (2-0), and with just one win in the bag from the next five Betway Premiership matches, Ertugral faces the harsh reality of ending the season without silverware and possibly missing out on qualification to next season’s MTN8, if he fails to address the current struggles of the Citizens.
City will be keen to return home after their poor away form continued at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane, losing 2-0 to relegation-threatened Magesi FC.
